Admiral Nakhimov has 3×4 406 mm guns. This is a lot of guns in its tier. However, the gun performance is terrible; even worse than many MMweight 8.0 battleships. At more than 14 km range, you’ll be lucky if half of your shells hit a broadsiding battleship. The accuracy is that terrible. The slow shell velocity also makes aiming hard, especially at fast and maneuvering targets like cruisers. Another problem is that even if the shells hit, half of it will not penetrate. Don’t even think about getting citadels. If the enemy is not a cruiser, getting citadels is extremely rare.

Low penetration and accuracy means it has to fire a full salvo at short range to be able to inflict decent damage. The problem is, Nakhimov has bad turret firing angle and bad armor. Firing all guns means giving broadside, and the enemy is more likely to sink Nakhimov instead. Bowtanking will increase its survivability, but it can only use 1/3 of its already terrible guns.

Admiral Nakhimov’s armor is the weakest in its tier. It can be easily citadeled even when angled. Nakhimov’s defense primarily relies on not getting hit. It has good concealment, small size, and good maneuverability. The problem is it has slow speed, which makes speed juking really hard. The AA is nonexistent. Nakhimov is a food for CV.

Playstyle

At the start of the battle, sail to a flank. Your speed is slow, but you have no other choice because you can’t snipe. You have good concealment so you can sail more forward than your teammates, but don’t get too close to the enemy. When the enemies are spotted, let your teammates tank for you. Sometimes you have to let your teammates shoot at the enemy first. You shoot only when the enemy is broadsiding. Use AP if the enemy is broadsiding at less than 14 km range, HE for everything else. If the enemy has superior firepower, turn back and kite. Never show broadside. Always maneuver and speed juke to dodge shells. Don’t get closer than 14 km from the enemy unless the enemy is ignoring you.

Is it worth to buy?

Admiral Nakhimov requires tremendous amount of effort and stupid enemies to perform well. Considering how restricting its playstyle is, Nakhimov currently sits at the bottom of the tier list.

Admiral Nakhimov is a tech tree ship, which means you just have to grind it. No need to spend money. The top tier battleship, Ingermanland, is much better and more enjoyable. If you have a lot of unused free exp, you can use it to skip Admiral Nakhimov
