Lord Constantine has 3×3 406 mm guns. The guns have sufficient caliber to overmatch any ship except Gneisenau and Wichita. Even against angled ships, Lord Constantine has higher chance to inflict damage. This gives Lord Constantine an advantage compared to other battleships with lower caliber guns. The accuracy is below average and it’s hard to hit bowtanking ships due to a tendency to spread horizontally. This often negates the overmatching advantage that it has. The shell velocity is also very slow, which makes aiming pretty hard.

Lord Constantine has decent turret firing angle so it doesn’t have to show a lot of broadside to fire all guns. However, the two front turrets are not superfiring. The second turret can’t shoot directly ahead.

Lord Constantine’s bigger problems are caused by its big size. Lord Constantine has terribly large turning radius, 980 m. Even though the rudder shift time is okay, Lord Constantine still takes a lot of time to turn. Combined with high freeboard, slow speed, and bad concealment, Lord Constantine is really easy to get hit.

Because Lord Constantine is an old design, it has crap armor and AA. The citadel is a bit more protected, but it still takes huge amount of penetration damage. It requires steep angling to bounce shells with its belt armor, but be careful because 380 mm guns can overmatch it from the bow and stern. The AA is not even sufficient to shoot down planes from lower tier CVs.

Playstyle

At the start of the battle, sail to a flank. Your speed is slow, but you have no other choice because you can’t snipe. Don’t sail too forward because you have bad concealment. Stay between 14-16 km from the enemy. Don’t get closer than 14 km unless the enemy is ignoring you. Let your teammates tank for you. Lord Constantine is bad at tanking. You move forward only when necessary (for example to create a crossfire or to save a teammate). There’s a high chance that you’ll become the primary target even though you’re at the back, simply because it’s very easy to get hit. Angle your ship all the time. Don’t bowtank and don’t show broadside. Speed juke to dodge shells. Angling away (kiting) is often much safer.

Even though you’re bad at tanking, you must not stay too far back. Lord Constantine has bad accuracy and slow shell velocity. Staying too far from the enemy will make you miss all your shots. Use AP as the default ammunition. You can ignore bowtanking enemies unless they’re very close or you have no other target.

Is it worth to buy?

Lord Constantine requires tremendous amount of effort and stupid enemies to perform well. It’s very inflexible to use.

Lord Constantine is a tech tree ship, which means you just have to grind it. No need to spend money. The top tier battleship, Ingermanland, is much better and more enjoyable. If you have a lot of unused free exp, you can use it to skip Lord Constantine.
