Princess Royal is a King George V (KGV)-class battleship that would be constructed if the Royal Navy didn’t comply with The Second London Naval Treaty (which limits the maximum gun caliber to 14 inch). Princess Royal has 3×3 381 mm guns. The AP performance is decent. Princess Royal has good accuracy but inconsistent at long range. Sometimes there are 2-3 shells that fly really far from the others. However, due to high shell velocity, Princess Royal can perform well as a sniper.

The main advantage this ship has over other British battleships is normal dispersion pattern. Most British battleships have vertical dispersion, which means half of their shells will miss if the enemy is broadsiding. Princess Royal can punish broadsiding ships nicely. This ability is important because battleship’s most important job is to inflict massive damage to anyone who makes mistakes.

Unlike KGV, Princess Royal has HE instead of MAP. The fire chance is lower than other British BBs, but the HE penetration is great. Princess Royal actually has better HE performance than Vanguard, on par with US and French BBs.

Princess Royal has the same hull as KGV but with faster speed. It has weak side armor, but the bow armor is strong and the citadel protection is good. Princess Royal has bad turret firing angle so it has to show a lot of broadside to fire all guns. Princess Royal has amazing acceleration and excellent maneuverability. The acceleration level is 50% better than most battleships, on par with cruisers. When speed juking at more than 15 km range, Princess Royal is almost impossible to hit. Princess Royal is also relatively small although the concealment is worse than KGV.

Playstyle

At the start of the battle, sail to a flank. Using your superior speed, try to create a crossfire with your teammates. Due to bad turret firing angle, you need to show more broadside when firing all guns. Stay at more than 13 km range for safety. Angle your ship, speed juke to dodge shells. You can try this simple speed juke tactic: sail at 1/4 speed when the enemy isn’t shooting, accelerate to full speed when the enemy shoots at you, reverse if the enemy shoots in front of your ship. Turn your ship if needed. Equip engine enhancement module, artillery warning crew skill, quick shift crew skill, and advanced quick shift crew skill for maximum effectiveness.

If your team’s firepower in your flank is superior, push together with your teammates. Princess Royal can lead the push and be the tanker, although not for long because it’s easy to get burned. Regularly switch the tank role with your teammates so everyone has time to repair. Always angle your ship and keep speed juking. If you’re forced to fight in close combat, point your bow straight towards the enemy. If possible, find a big island to cover your side. If not, ask your teammates to cover you from the side.

If your team’s firepower in your flank is inferior, don’t push. Angle away and kite the enemy. Don’t run away either. You need to defend your flank from collapsing. Princess Royal has good guns and maneuverability. It’s good for kiting.

Is it worth to buy?

Princess Royal feels like a complete package and much more competitive than other British battleships around its tier. It shines at medium to long range, but if needed it can push and brawl too. However, it’s not a specialized ship. A specialized brawler can win against it in close combat, and a specialized sniper can win against it in long range combat.

Princess Royal is a prism ship, which means to buy it you must spend money. If you have a lot of money to spend on a mobile game, it’s worth to buy. However, remember that this is not a pay-to-win game. If you have bad skill, you’ll be dead in 1 minute and you’re just wasting your money.
