Toulouse is using Alsace’s hull with nine 380 mm guns. By having a 3×3 gun configuration and fast reload, it combines the good aspects of Richelieu and Gascogne. At long range the accuracy is lower than Richelieu, but it has higher damage per salvo. The AP penetration is similar to Gascogne. Toulouse can be used for pushing and kiting, unlike Richelieu and Gascogne that can only choose one. Toulouse has main gun reload booster consumable which can make its burst damage very high. Toulouse can also be used as an effective HE spammer (much better than Vanguard).

Even though Toulouse is using Alsace’s hull, it has far less HP than Alsace for balance because it’s one tier lower. Compared to its peers, Toulouse’s HP is just average. The armor is decent although the side armor is bad. The turning is average, but the fast speed makes its maneuverability decent. Toulouse can equip engine overload consumable if you prefer more speed. Toulouse’s size is pretty big for its MMweight and it has bad concealment, so you must be careful when maneuvering. It’s also prone to get set on fire due to its size.

Playstyle

Toulouse is often used as the backbone of the team. It can lead the push, create crossfires, and has strong guns that can finish off the enemy. Just like Alsace, Toulouse is a good flanker. Use its fast speed, sail to a flank and shoot the enemy from their side. If that fails, change position. Always try to find a good position where you can create a crossfire. If you already have a good position, stay there and keep your ship angled. Toulose is not a weak ship that needs to run away all the time.

Try to find cover behind island if you’re under focused fire. Island can also be used as a concealment for ambushing the enemy later. If there’s no island, keep kiting or run away if you’re already on low HP. You don’t need to shoot if you’re not detected.

When fighting at close range, always keep your ship angled or bowtank. A bowtanking Toulouse is pretty strong. Try to find an opportunity to pass by and encircle the enemy. Most battleships in its MMweight are weak in close combat, so jousting them is a good idea. Toulose’s fast turret rotation speed makes it capable of locking on to the target even when turning. However, this maneuver is risky because at some point you will give broadside to the enemy. Do it when you still have a lot of HP.

If the situation doesn’t favor aggressive playstyle (for example too many enemies on your flank), just stay back. Speed juke and kite the enemy from medium range but don’t run away unless you’re on low health. Toulouse can burn enemies quite nicely. Pay attention to the enemy’s formation. If the enemy overextend, use your fast speed to reposition and make a crossfire. Such versatility is what makes Toulouse good in team battles.

Is it worth to buy?

Toulouse is one of the best ships in its MMweight. It rewards an aggressive playstyle but versatile enough to be able to adapt in any situation. In a way, its playstyle is similar to Joan of Arc.

Toulouse is a gem ship. You need to save gems from daily missions and events in order to buy it. No need to spend money. Toulouse is very worth to buy.
