Warspite is a Queen Elizabeth-class battleship. It participated in both world wars. Warspite has the most battle honours ever awarded to an individual ship in the Royal Navy. Warspite was nicknamed “The Grand Old Lady”.

Warspite has 4×2 381 mm guns. The guns have enough caliber and penetration to overmatch any ship in its MMweight, except Gneisenau, Yorck, and Wichita. It’s also pretty accurate. The slow shell velocity limits its ability in long range combat.

Waspite is slow, but it has great maneuverability which makes it very flexible in combat. It also has amazing acceleration, 50% better than most battleships. With correct build, Warspite can have the same acceleration as many cruisers.

Warspite’s armor is just average. It can be overmatched by 380 mm guns, but proper angling can bounce a lot of shells. Unfortunately, it has bad turret firing angle. It needs to show a lot of broadside to fire a full salvo. This makes Warspite vulnerable to getting citadeled. The player must pay more attention to angling.

Warspite has a unique consumable, called emergency damage control, that can instantly activate damage control even though it’s still on cooldown. This makes Warspite very resistant to fire, flood, and CV attack. Warspite also has good surface detectability. It can sail more forward than other battleships and detect enemies.

Playstyle

Warspite has slow shell velocity, but at low tier most battleships have slow speed so aiming is not that hard. In fact, Warspite is less effective at short range because of its slow speed and overmatchable armor.

At the start of the match, sail to a flank. You can sail more forward than your teammates unless there are a lot of cruisers and destroyers on the enemy. The ideal engagement range is 10-14 km. Create crossfire with your faster teammates. Speed juke to dodge shells. You can try this simple speed juke tactic: sail at 1/4 speed when the enemy isn’t shooting, accelerate to full speed when the enemy shoots at you, reverse if the enemy shoots in front of your ship.

If the enemy’s firepower is superior, don’t push recklessly. Angle away and kite the enemy. Use AP as your default ammunition unless you’re fighting bowtanking Gneisenau, Wichita, and Yorck. If you’re getting burned and your damage control is on cooldown, just activate emergency damage control consumable. Keep in mind that this consumable will reset your damage control cooldown again and can only be used twice.

Is it worth to buy?

Warspite is the only battleship in its MMweight that can be competitive among MMweight 7.0 because it has good guns and good survivability.

Warspite is a free exp ship. Free exp is given after each battle in a small amount, so it’s easy to acquire but takes quite some time to accumulate. No need to spend money. Considering this is a low tier ship, there’s probably not many players that you can fight anyway so it’s not worth to buy. We recommend to buy it after you already collected high tier free exp ships like Missouri.
